No injuries reported in Friday morning house fire

There were no injuries reported from a house fire that South King Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to Friday morning in Des Moines.
Firefighters responded to 2124 S. 253rd St. before 5 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire had traveled up the side of the house and had spread to the roof and attic. 
A couple were sleeping inside the home at the time of the fire, South King spokeswoman Kendra Kay said in a release, but were awoken by a smoke alarm and were able to escape. 
The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical and started in an illuminated address sign hung on the side of the house. Damage was estimated at around $70,000.
