Sex and the Senate | Federal Way letters

Oh, the wonder of it all! I never thought I’d see the day when a politician had such a heart full of empathy for the lesser among us. On March 24, 2010, the U.S. Senate voted to permit convicted rapists and various sex offenders to receive Viagra and other sexual performance enhancement drugs through prescriptions paid for by health plans subsidized by U.S. taxpayers. An amendment to prohibit this (introduced by Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma) was voted down by every Democrat but one (Sen. Ben Nelson, Nebraska). What pride we should have for Patty Murray and others of her ilk.

Washington state stands out again with the group “One America” using illegal immigrants to stomp door to door for Senator Murray.

Legal immigrants, naturalized citizens, American born; fine.

There is something very wrong with this picture. It is not in a frame with images of gray. These issues are black and white. This exemplifies right and wrong; good and evil. Many generations have fought and died for our freedoms, but not to denigrate for what and to whom our country stands.

Indeed, we must listen to the voices of our fallen heroes. We must vote for those for whom morality and country come first.
