News media need to quit campaigning | Federal Way letters

Forget about the media

Here I sit, with my voting ballot in one hand and the voters pamphlet in the other. It is the 11th hour, and just over one week left to vote, and I am still in a quandary. On the front side of the ballot, it is full of initiative measures, referendum bills, amendments, etc. Readings that only a lawyer could understand and read. On the back side unopposed judges running, and then, of course, those who want to go back to Washington, D.C., and/or Olympia.

Watching the dirt-throwing and nonsense on the airwaves makes a person wonder, is it really worth voting? I think so, because it is an honor to be able to vote and sometimes have it count, as an American citizen. But over the past couple of years, it seems there is a push to make our nation a one-party nation under the new administration. I’m sure there are many who are going to disagree, and that’s OK because we are entitled to our opinion, at least I thought we were. Only to find out, we are not, as long as we don’t agree with certain persons who think they have the right answers to helping us get out of the mess we are in now. The very people, some, have put us in this mess.

One thing I would like to really see is for all news media, newspapers and TV news broadcasters: Get out of the campaigning business, and let people decide for themselves who they should vote for. They, the news media, picks and chooses which candidates they think the people should be voting for, but it is not up to them to decide. To them, I say let the American citizens pick and choose who we feel best fits our needs as citizens, not yours.
