Contract with a federal lobbyist: Who needs it? | Federal Way letters

Hello, am I missing something here?
In reading about the City of Federal Way terminating a contract with a federal lobbyist group (Oct. 13), the lobbyist firm’s list of accomplishments included asking for $2.7 million for the Triangle Project and “won” support from Sen. Maria Cantwell and Rep. Adam Smith. Since when did we have to hire a federal lobbyist to win support from those we elected into office to represent us in the first place, then to “orchestrate” an appearance for Rep. Smith at the Triangle Project groundbreaking event on Aug. 11? I have to agree with Federal Way City Councilman Jim Ferrell on this one, I’m not impressed either.
This is another example of what is wrong in Washington. The only change that will take place is when we vote out every incumbent, regardless of party affiliation, and start over. Although I don’t live in the city limits (I voted against being annexed), I do 90 percent of my business there.
