All-City Fastpitch: Jefferson, who has been to state three of the last four years, dominates team

Catcher
Taylor Winton, Beamer
The senior is headed to Marshall University in West Virginia in the fall to play softball for the Thundering Herd. The 6-foot Winton hit an impressive .420 during the SPSL regular season and drove in 12 runs for the Titans. She also scored 15 runs, had two triples, one home run and was 7 for 7 in stolen bases.
“Taylor is one of the better power hitters we have seen,” said Marshall head coach Shonda Stanton. “She has tremendous strength and is a legitimate long ball hitter. With all the speed we signed in 2009, Taylor was a must have and could potentially be one of the strongest players we have ever signed.”
Winton led Beamer into the postseason for the second year in a row after finishing fourth in the SPSL South Division. The Titans were eliminated in the West Central District Tournament by Jefferson.
Infield
Hannah Kiyohara, Jefferson
The senior finished her impressive softball career at Jefferson with another stellar season. The shortstop was the co-Most Valuable Player in the SPSL North Division after hitting .432 and leading the Raiders to their third state tournament in the last four years.
Kiyohara also finished the 2010 season with 34 RBIs, 34 runs, 12 stolen bases, three home runs, four triples and 12 doubles. She also played a solid defensive shortstop.
Kiyohara will continue her softball career at the University of Louisville in the fall. She signed a scholarship in the fall to play for the Cardinals.
Allie Crowe, Jefferson
Crowe had an impressive season for the Raiders as the team’s starting first baseman. Crowe finished the season with a .500 batting average. She also knocked in 22 runs scored 26 times. The junior also had nine doubles, walked 10 times and had an on-base percentage of .625 during the SPSL North season.
Cassidy DeWaele, Jefferson
The senior second baseman led the Raiders with three home runs and knocked in 21 runs. DeWaele was also a stellar defender in the infield and also scored 20 runs, had nine doubles and hit .287.
Brianne Grosche, Beamer
The senior infielder had a huge offensive season for the Titans. Grosche finished fifth in the SPSL South with a .460 batting average and was second in the league with 27 RBIs. She also scored 12 runs during the regular season, with six doubles, one home run and a .680 slugging percentage.
Grosche was a first-team, All-SPSL South selection.
Sadie Bynum, Federal Way
The sophomore middle infielder was the Eagles’ best hitter all season long. Bynum hit an impressive .436 with three doubles. She also had an on-base percentage of .522 and slugged .564 to help Federal Way finish 5-13 on the season. The Eagles also won three games in the rugged SPSL South Division, which is one better than a season ago. Federal Way will graduate only three seniors.
Outfield
Sarah Petosa, Beamer
The senior center fielder had another impressive season for the Titans. Petosa will play next year at Seattle University after finishing second in the SPSL South with a .529 batting average. Petosa also scored 21 runs and stole an amazing 32 bases for Beamer to lead the entire SPSL. The second-best stolen base total in the league was 14.
She was a first-team, All-SPSL South selection for the season year in a row.
Lindsey Dickinson, Decatur
The junior was the Gators best offensive weapon during a season that saw Decatur finish 4-17 overall and 3-14 in the SPSL South. Dickinson hit .362 on the year and drove in seven runs. She also finished with 12 runs, three triples and 12 stolen bases.
Courtney Taylor, Beamer
The senior left fielder hit .429 during the regular season and had 10 RBIs with three doubles and seven stolen bases. Taylor also had a .518 on-base percentage and a .490 slugging percentage.
Lexi Goranson, Jefferson
The centerfielder had an impressive season both offensively and defensively for Jefferson. Goranson, a sophomore, hit .409 for the Raiders with 24 RBIs, 27 runs scored, six stolen bases and eight doubles. She also made numerous running catches in centerfield and was a first-team, All-SPSL North selection by the league coaches.
Reno Whitcomb, Jefferson
The freshman came out of nowhere to lead the SPSL North in batting average this season. Whitcomb finished the 16-game SPSL season with an eye-popping .649 average. During the entire season, Whitcomb finished with a .519 average (41 for 79) and scored 31 runs. She also knocked in 10, had 12 stolen bases and four doubles. She was a first-team, All-SPSL North selection as an outfielder.
Pitchers
Emma Blauser, Beamer
The Titan sophomore put together another solid season. Blauser finished with a 9-7 record and led Beamer back into the postseason for the second year in a row. Blauser threw 100 innings and struck out 80 hitters. She also had an earned-run average of 3.01 and threw 14 complete games.
Katie Jackson, Jefferson
The Raider freshman had a solid first year for Jefferson. Jackson finished 7-6 in the rugged SPSL North Division with a 4.00 earned-run average in 71 2/3 innings of work. Jackson also had 39 strikeouts and nine complete games.
