Send Bob and Sue Celski to Vancouver for 2010 Olympics

Friends and relatives of the Celskis and the Federal Way High School class of ‘74 celebrated hometown Olympic speedskater J.R. Celski on Feb. 6 at City Hall. The event included a video slideshow of J.R. Celski’s skating career. Federal Way Mayor Linda Kochmar proclaimed Feb. 6 as “Send Bob and Sue Celski to Vancouver Day.” The Historical Society displayed new boards on the history of skating in Federal Way including back to the roller rink at Redondo Beach up to today’s Pattison’s West Family Skate. Celski skated in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver this past weekend, earning a bronze medal in the men’s 1,500-meter short track event on Feb. 13. The FWHS class of ‘74 reunion committee responsible for pulling together this event: Bonnie Anderson, Marilou Bowie, Dan Franks, Leslie Hodges, Bruce Honda, Hollie and Dave Lloyd, Debbie Hamilton, Debra McClellan and Pat McNulty. Food donated by Pac Island Grill, Scoreboard Pub, Billy McHale’s, Ark Smokehouse BBQ and the Milton Safeway.
