No fireworks, please | Federal Way letters

Happy New Year! With that being said, I ask, why is there an utter lack of respect for the “no fireworks law” in this city? I live in the Twin Lakes area near Olympic View Elementary. Last evening, the so-called party began around 8 p.m. and of course peaked around 12:15 p.m. My thoughts/questions are as follows:
1. Fireworks are illegal in the city, so why do so many think that they are above and beyond the law? This is not a victimless crime. There are many people who do not appreciate the noise so late into the evening (disturbing the peace).
2. What example are these adults setting for their children? That laws only apply sometimes to some people?
3. Many pets are put in a terrified mode when fireworks are set off, creating unneeded stress to them.
4. What can the city do about it? I don’t call the police because I know they have better things to do than chase down a bunch of silliness. Why can’t our citizens obey the law and respect their neighbors?
By the way, it is a hundred-fold worse around Fourth of July.
