The Federal Way Eagles football team secured the South Puget Sound League North Division’s third seed into the postseason with a 48-0 shutout of the Thomas Jefferson Raiders on Friday night.

The win improved the Eagles to 7-2 on the season. They will travel across the Narrows Bridge to take on the Gig Harbor Tides in the Class 4A preliminary playoff round at 7:30 p.m. at Roy Anderson Stadium on Friday. Gig Harbor finished second in the Narrows League. The winner of the Federal Way-Gig Harbor game will qualify for the 16-team Class 4A State Tournament and play the winner of a game between No. 1-ranked Skyline and either Graham-Kapowsin or Bellarmine Prep.

The shutout of Jefferson Friday night was the second game in a row that the Eagle defense hasn’t allowed a point. Federal Way shut out Kent-Meridian last week, 33-0.

The Eagles scored all 48 of their points in the second and third quarter after playing to a 0-0 tie after the first 12 minutes. Barrington led off the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter and followed with a 30-yard scoring run to give Federal Way a 14-0 lead.

Fullback George Williams ended the first half with a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 21-0 lead.

Barrington followed in the second half with a touchdown run of 66 yards and also added a 46-yard fumble return for a touchdown on defense.

Federal Way also got second-half touchdowns from Damon Hardy on a 1-yard run and DaShawn Horne added a 2-yard run.

The Raiders will end their season Friday night when they battle the winless Todd Beamer Titans at Federal Way Memorial Stadium in an SPSL crossover game.

Decatur 52, Beamer 6

The Decatur Gators cruised to their first victory of the season Saturday night over cross-district rival Beamer at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.

The Gators were led by the play of quarterback John Duncan. The senior accounted for five Decatur touchdowns during the win.

Decatur took a quick 6-0 lead on Beamer after Duncan hit Conner McFaul with a 34-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter. But Beamer fought back to tie the game after Titan quarterback Tyair Love scored from two yards out.

But from that point on it was all Decatur. The Gators tallied 48-straight points to build up a 52-6 lead entering the fourth quarter. Decatur scored 19 points in the second quarter and 21 in the third.

McFaul finished with three touchdowns for the Gators, including a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Duncan had touchdown runs of 67 and 45 yards and touchdown passes of 34, 35 and 10 yards. His third touchdown pass of the night came to senior Cam Schilling in the second quarter.

The Gators’ other touchdowns came on a 17-yard run by Clark Colvin and a 21-yard run by Cody Vaughn.

The Gators will host the Kent-Meridian Royals Thursday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium in an SPSL crossover game. Kent-Meridian finished 1-8 in the SPSL North Division, with their only win coming over winless Jefferson. The game will kickoff at 7 p.m.
