The Decatur Golden Gators officially kicked off the 2017 football season Aug. 31 with a 28-21 win over the Mount Rainier Rams at Federal Way Memorial Stadium. The win for Decatur is its first season-opening victory since the 2009 season.

Colin McKay showed why he was named the 2016 North Puget Sound League Offensive Player of the Year during his 2017 debut, when he lit up the Spanaway Lake Sentinels for three rushing touchdowns. Senior Kuma Scanlon rushed for two touchdowns in Beamer’s win.
