“Decatur hosted its annual tournament, The Hurricane Harris Invitational, Dec. 9,” Gator coach Tevyn Tillman said. “With over 14 teams and 26 brackets, Decatur had one champion – Elijah Gandert. Elijah wrestled tough, wrestled smart, which led to his championship title. In his final match, Elijah dominated a former state placer, beating him 10-4 and taking home the gold. Elijah was in a 16-man bracket, and he is also a freshman wrestling at 126 pounds. Elijah is one of five freshmen on Decatur’s boys varsity team.”
