From staff reports:

Members of the International We Love U Foundation are participating in blood donation campaigns worldwide from July 1-31.

More than 100 supporters came out for the blood drive on July 15 in Federal Way. Of the 73 who registered, 54 were able to donate and 47 were first-time donors.

Robin Lulich, the donor resources consultant from the Cascade Regional Blood Services, thanked the members.

“I thank all members that have come out to donate and support the blood center, as your drive and number of donors come at a very crucial time for us,” she said. “There is always a growing demand for blood and blood products at the area hospitals during the holidays and summer months, and with the Fourth of July holiday just over, your drive will really help out those in need.”

As scheduled, Lulich appeared at the scene to encourage the members who donated blood in this event. South King Fire and Rescue showed its support for the blood drive by sending an engine.

This was the first event sponsored by the Seattle chapter of the International We Love U Foundation.

The foundation was founded in South Korea by Zahng Gil-Ja, and has received multiple honors including the President’s Call to Service Award from Barack Obama in 2011. The foundation spreads love through community services such as blood donation drives, street cleanups, water pump donations and more.
