Police deflate stolen car chase | Federal Way Police Blotter

The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Locks cut on company vehicle: At 7:31 a.m. on Nov. 14 at 31622 Pacific Highway S., a man awoke to discover his company’s vehicle had been broken into and robbed. The man had parked the vehicle at the Comfort Inn and went into his motel room the night before. The vehicle’s side compartment locks were cut off and several power tools were missing. Officers responded to the theft, but couldn’t find any suspect fingerprints on the truck. Detectives are waiting for Comfort Inn’s video surveillance if it’s available.

Couple steals clothes from Goodwill: At 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 14 at 32521 Pacific Highway S., a black female and “albino black male” allegedly stole “arms of clothing” from Goodwill. They ran out of the store and got into a vehicle heading southbound. Goodwill is unaware of the exact items that were stolen. Police have deemed all leads exhausted at this time.

Washington’s Most Wanted suspect almost caught: At 11:48 a.m. on Nov. 14 in the 2200 block of Southwest 337th Place, a woman called Crime Stoppers to report a man sleeping at her apartment was wanted by Kent police and was on Washington’s Most Wanted. Officers surrounded the apartment, but the resident was uncooperative with police and didn’t let them in to search.

Golf cart joy ride: At 3:09 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the 100 block of South 334th Street, a maintenance golf cart was stolen from The Commons apartments. The reporting party said the golf cart requires a key to start, however, it was recently discovered it could be started using almost any key or screw driver. Police could not find the cart in the surrounding areas.

Missing person found: At 8:13 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the 32400 block of Pacific Highway South, police stopped a male for a traffic violation but discovered he was a missing person out of Pierce County. The officer determined he appeared healthy and removed him from the system.

Police deflate stolen car chase: At 8:31 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the 36800 block of Sixth Avenue Southwest, Des Moines police followed a stolen vehicle into Federal Way. Federal Way police assisted using spike strips to deflate the vehicle’s tires. The driver fled after the vehicle came to a rest, but Federal Way police apprehended him using a K-9. The car thief was booked into jail by Des Moines police.

Victim robbed: At 8:47 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the 33100 block of First Place Southwest, a victim was robbed by three unidentified males carrying handguns.

Intoxicated woman committed: At 3:02 a.m. on Nov. 15 in the 3400 block of 16th Avenue South, a woman was involuntarily committed after running away from St. Francis Hospital staff. Police were dispatched to reports of an assault. When they arrived, the victim refused to speak with officers, only stated she wanted to go to the hospital. A female AMR employee spoke to her and determined she may have been sexually assaulted in Tacoma. She was taken to the hospital for a rape kit test. Once there, she ran away and was almost hit by a car. She tried to get inside the vehicle but the driver drove away. Officers claim she started to call herself by a different last name and didn’t make sense. Police suspect she was intoxicated with heroin.

Wal-Mart robbery fails: At 6:12 a.m. on Nov. 15 at 1900 S. 314th St., an unknown man entered Wal-Mart, which was closed at the time, by prying open the doors with his hands. Employees were stocking shelves, preparing for the day, at the time. The suspect threatened employees with a gun, however, employees never saw him with one. Nonetheless, the manager took the suspect to a cash room, but was able to close the door and lock the suspect out of the room. The suspect fled the scene.

Creepy man offers walk home: At 11:14 a.m. on Nov. 15 at 33524 35th Ave. SW, a Brigadoon Elementary school resource officer called to report a student said an unknown male asked her if she wanted him to walk her home. The incident occurred the day before at around 3:45 p.m. Officers tried to contact the man the student believed was responsible but they were unsuccessful.

Business’ power cut, literally: At 12:40 p.m. on Nov. 15 in the 32400 block of Pacific Highway South, an unknown suspect cut lead wires to several power lines for multiple businesses. The property manager for the location told police he feels that it is related to an incident that was reported a month ago in which someone tried to cut conduit at the same location.

Counselor reports sex offense: At 10:37 p.m. on Nov. 15 at an unknown location, a mental health counselor, who is a mandatory reporter, reported a sex offense. The counselor told police the victim, a senior at a Seattle-area high school, was unavailable and could only provide limited information. The alleged offense occurred one-to-two years ago. Police encouraged the victim to complete a police report.

Stolen property on former Weyerhaeuser property: At 1:27 p.m. on Nov. 15 near Highway 18 and Weyerhaeuser Way, a Washington State Patrol officer was flagged down by an unidentified citizen who informed the officer there were potentially stolen items in a wooded area off of Weyerhaeuser Way on the former-Weyerhaeuser property. Police found metal door locks and knobs and a spool of wire. Officers removed the items and submitted them into the property room for disposal after they were unable to contact the owner.

Teenage boy threatens ex: At 1:50 p.m. on Nov. 15 at 35999 16th Ave. S., an administrator at Todd Beamer High School reported a ninth-grade male student allegedly sent a ninth-grade female student a suspicious text message from his Facebook account. The message threatened he had a gun and that he would beat up the victim’s new boyfriend. Police contacted the suspect’s father and told them his son is depressed over a break up and jealous of the girl’s new boyfriend. The father told police his son had no access to any firearms and is under supervision. Police contacted the suspect’s King County juvenile probation officer and relayed the incident.
