Miloscia to head newly-formed State Government Committee

The Majority Coalition Caucus announced Dec. 9 that Sen. Mark Miloscia will head the newly-formed State Government Committee in the upcoming 2017 legislative session. Miloscia was previously the chair of the Accountability and Reform Committee. Miloscia’s focus on accountability positioned him to lead the new committee’s focus on performance and open government, according to a press release.

“My goal has always been to make Washington the most effective, efficient and ethical government in the world,” Miloscia said in a press release. “I plan to use this position to continue raising issues of accountability, but also to provide leadership on issues of open government, elections and critical services. We have a lot to accomplish and it’s important to me that we work together in this committee in a bipartisan way to get things done.”

In order to address the increasing number of issues specific to government services, the former Government Operations and Security Committee was split into two committees, State Government and Local Government. The State Government Committee will focus on oversight of state services and legislation affecting state government rules, procedures and elections.

Miloscia’s professional background is in auditing and contract management and during his legislative career he has chaired audit and accountability committees in both the House and Senate. He represents the 30th Legislative District and resides in Federal Way.
