Federal Way police investigating suspicious death

Federal Way police are investigating a suspicious death that occurred Wednesday morning.

At 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to do a welfare check on an unconscious 27-year-old man in the parking lot of Club Palisades apartments, located at 2211 S. Star Lake Road. A security guard found the man and called 911. Once police arrived, they discovered the Federal Way resident was deceased from a gunshot wound. Police did not release details on where the gunshot wound was located.

According to police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock, after a preliminary investigation, which determined a lack of physical evidence at the scene, detectives believe the man was killed at a different location and brought to the parking lot.

She said they are investigating this death as a homicide because of the gunshot wound; however, police cannot definitively state it’s a homicide until they learn more information.

“Because of the lack of crime scene, we’re certainly asking the public to think about if there was anything suspicious that they heard overnight and to call us,” Schrock said.
