Federal Way police confiscate package of marijuana

On April 30, Federal Way police responded to the UPS store at 1911 S.W. Campus Drive in response to peculiar found property.

The owner of the store told police that the day prior, a male entered the store and attempted to ship a 4-pound package to Minnesota. The customer appeared nervous during the transaction, according to police records.

After the customer departed the UPS store, an employee noticed the box had a distinct smell to it. The owner of the store also smelled the box and, believing it was marijuana, opened the package. He found two air-sealed bags containing what appeared to be recently harvested marijuana, with buds intact.

A records check at the store revealed the customer had made two prior shipments of similar weight to Minnesota. The transactions took place in January and March.

Police confiscated the box, containing 936.4 grams of marijuana and submitted it for destruction at the police station.
