FWHS theater alumni: “You Can’t Take It With You,” the first play directed by Lois Gorne more than 30 years ago at Federal Way High School, will also be her last play. Jazz LIVE at Marine View: This month’s free show features guitarist Dan Balmer from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at Marine View Church, 8469 Eastside Dr. NE, Tacoma. Call (253) 229-9206. Balmer was the youngest inductee (of only 5 musicians) into both the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame. He has credits on over 80 CDs (including 8 of his own) and has had his music featured both in airplay and in movies and television in the U.S. and internationally. His versatility, ranging from jazz to rock to country to blues has served him well. In the ’80s and ’90s, Balmer had a successful collaboration with pianist Tom Grant, resulting in several chart-topping recordings. For his Marine View appearance Balmer will be joined by impressive instrumentalists George Mitchell on keyboards, Jeff Leonard (1979 Lakes High School graduate returning to his hometown Tacoma) on bass and Micah Kassell on drums.
