TRACK AND FIELD: Federal Way boys win Shoreline Invite title

The Federal Way Eagles took a big step toward the state championships Saturday by winning the team title at the prestigious Shoreline Invitational. Federal Way tallied 56 team points to outdistance second-place Wenatchee (45 points).

The Eagles’ lone event title came from the 4×400 relay team of Patrick Crews, Meron Simon, Michael Tate and DJ May. The foursome finished in 3:23.43. Tate and Simon also snagged second-place finishes for the Eagles.

Tate was third in the 200 meters in 22.51 and Simon was second in the 3,200 in 9:07.14.

Federal Way’s 4×100 relay team of Kerson Lubin, Tate, May and Jeremiah McNeal ended up third in 43.06 and Crews finished fourth in the 800 (1:56.48).

Federal Way freshman Mitch Stewart captured top honors in the 1,600-meter run for freshman and sophomores in 4:34.38.

Decatur’s Drew Thompson finished up in fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 6-4.

Jefferson

Senior Kayla Adams swept the shot put and discus Saturday at the 35th Annual Lake Washington Invitational. The two individual wins helped the Raiders finish up in third place in the team standings. Tahoma won the title with 44 points and Jefferson finished with 40.

Adams won the shot put with a throw of 43-9 and won the discus in 132-2. The Raiders also got a first-place finish from sophomore Montana Pellegrini in the pole vault with a leap of 10-3.

Junior Lindsey Dahl ended up fifth in the triple jump (35-7) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (47.6).

Decatur

The Gators were swept on Thursday by the Lakes Lancers in SPSL 3A action. The Decatur girls lost, 86-61, and the boys were beaten, 96-42.

On the girls’ side, the Gators picked up a pair of individual wins from Anna Paradee in the 100 hurdles (17.21) and 300 hurdles (51.74) and Tori Zellerhoff in the 1,600 meters (5:23.43) and triple jump (29-7 1/2).

The Gators’ other wins came from Sydnee Patin in the pole vault (8-6) and the 4×400 relay team of Desi Kamm, Ericka Budinich, Leah Johnson and Olivia Sullivan.

On the boys’ side, Decatur got three individual wins from Drew Thompson. The junior won the high jump (6-5 1/2), pole vault (10-0) and 110 hurdles (16.3). Senior Brandon Siliga won both the shot put (42-2) and discus (115-9).

The Gators’ other win came from Isaac Ochoa in the 200 (23.56).
