Hale leads Federal Way with 23 points; fourth-ranked Decatur remains unbeaten

The expectations are sky high for the Federal Way High School boys basketball team this season. The Eagles came into the season as the No. 1-ranked team in the state and return basically five starters from last year.

The Federal Way Hawks Junior Football Association’s cheerleading team finished up in second place at a national cheerleading competition in Las Vegas on Nov. 29.
Aaron Broussard — The 2008 Federal Way High School grad has played in nine games for the Seattle University Redhawks and is averaging 3.6 points and 3.1 rebounds a game. The Redhawks are 5-4 overall. Broussard, a 6-foot-4 forward, had nine points and six rebounds in a loss to San Diego State on Nov. 28.

Houston Texans long snapper Bryan Pittman was one of six players suspended Tuesday by the National Football League for violating the league’s steroid policy.
Decatur High School will host the nine-team Gator Invitational wrestling tournament today inside the school’s gym. The tournament starts at 9 a.m. and championship bracket matches will begin at 5 p.m. Decatur will be joined by Thomas Jefferson, Kent-Meridian, Kentlake, Foss, Skyway, Bainbridge and Evergreen.
The Thomas Jefferson girls basketball team brings back most of their roster from a season ago. And that might be bad news for the rest of the teams in the South Puget Sound League North Division.
Decatur High School graduate Chris Corey was named the recipient of the Charles Lappenbusch Memorial Coaches Award at the Western Washington University football team’s Awards Banquet Sunday. Corey is a senior offensive tackle for the Vikings.
