Federal Way students trot 25 miles for Mariners tickets

Twenty-five miles separate Enterprise Elementary School from Safeco field. For 25 days, Enterprise Elementary students, parents and staff walk, run or jog the distance — earning an opportunity to go on a field trip to a Mariners baseball game on June 3, 2008, or to earn a T-shirt. Enterprise’s 484 students completed over 4,500 miles this year.

Reid finally gets the call from the Mariners

It looks like Decatur grad Brad Reid will get a chance to play for his hometown organization. The current Bellevue Community College right-handed pitcher was drafted by the Seattle Mariners Friday in the 30th round of the 2008 major league draft. It was the second time Reid has been drafted. The Cleveland Indians selected him after his senior season at Decatur in 2006, but didn’t sign him.

Decatur grad set to revive Green River cross country

Decatur High School graduate Chris Williams will get a chance to restart the cross country program at Auburn’s Green River Community College.

• Decatur High School boys basketball will again be hosting its Gator Basketball Camp this summer. The camp is for boys and girls entering fourth through ninth grades. The camp runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 23-26, at Decatur High School.

It’s been quite a year for the Todd Beamer High School boys soccer team and it got a little bit better Tuesday night. The Titans rolled over the Bothell Cougars in the opening round of the Class 4A State Tournament, 3-0, at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
