Federal Way High School’s Zane Baumgardt, soccer, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for May 18.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: Spanish.
Q: What other activities/hobbies do you participate in?
A: Football, soccer, referee for youth soccer, volunteering at summer soccer tournaments for club team Crossfire.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: Family members (mom, dad, aunt, uncle and grandpa).
Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?
A: Pre-game: Watches motivational videos; tapes left wrist and writes words of encouragement on the tape. Post-game: Goes out with teammates after a win.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: “Stalking You” by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
From the sideline: Zane has been an integral part to the success of Federal Way soccer. Zane has played a few different positions for the team this year and currently has 7 goals and 12 assists. Moving Zane to center-back has been a key to our backline and the team’s recent six-game winning streak and a chance for a league title. Zane is currently being recruited by West Point (United States Military Academy) for soccer.
