Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Jan. 14: David Long

Decatur senior has wrestled some of the toughest competitors in the 170-pound weight class of the Puget Sound.

Decatur High School senior David Long, wrestling, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Jan. 14.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Weight training.

Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: Fishing, hiking and skiing.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: Tevyn Tillman by giving me a good work ethic.

Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given when it comes to your sport?

A: “Be relentless.”

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual and your favorite post-game meal?

A: Pre-game: I listen to my pre-match playlist. Post-game meal: Steak and eggs.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “Crunk Ain’t Dead” by Duke Deuce.

From the sidelines: Decatur High School senior David Long is a dedicated scholar-athlete. He has stepped up to wrestle some of the toughest wrestlers in the Puget Sound region in the 170-pound weight class. David is one of our wrestling leaders exemplifying all of the positive attributes that drive success: hard work, perseverance, individual and team improvement. David has also participated in the football and boys cross country programs at Decatur. Some of his recent growth and success in wrestling can be attributed to his participation in club wrestling with Reality Sports. David has earned a 3.635 Cumulative Grade Point Average in a rigorous college prep schedule that includes six Advanced Placement courses. David will be attending Montana State next year.
