Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Dec. 30: George Raileanu

Decatur senior is a top league swimmer, Eagle Scout and volunteers with the fire department.

Decatur High School senior George Raileanu, swimming, is the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Dec. 30.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: My favorite subject is urban agriculture.

Q: What hobbies do you enjoy outside of your sport?

A: Backpacking, exploring and volunteering with the fire department.

Q: Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?

A: My parents and my high school and club coaches.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone (living or from the past), who would it be?

A: Admiral Chester W. Nimitz because he is someone who I want to be like.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual:

A: I stand at the middle of the pool and stare down to the other end and say, “only 25 yards.”

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “hours” by again&again.

From the sidelines: George Raileanu has started off the season very strong, establishing times close to the North Puget Sound League time standard in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Butterfly. He will be a four-year varsity letter award winner and was selected for his third season as team captain. On campus, George is enrolled in four Advanced Placement classes. Georg is dedicated to serving his community with his involvement in Boy Scouts of America and recently earned his Eagle Scout Award. He has also advanced to lieutenant in the local Fire Cadets program.
