Athlete of the Week:

Thomas Jefferson High School’s Elyas Poore, boys tennis, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Oct. 12.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: History.

Q: What other activities/hobbies do you participate in?

A: Spending time with my friends and family.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My parents, Gary and Hilarie Poore, as well as my grandparents.

Q: Do you have a pre­game/competition ritual or post­game tradition, and what is it?

A: I do not have a pregame or postgame ritual.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons.

From the sideline: Elyas is 8-2 at first singles. The Raiders are 12-0 in league as a team and have won 17 consecutive matches. If the Raiders win either one of the final two matches, they will be NPSL champions for the second consecutive year. Elyas has a 4.0 GPA and is a key component of this season’s success.
