Decatur girls golf outshines Federal Way at Tuesday match

Federal Way’s Alyssa Iverson, McKenna Hulse lead the Eagles; Decatur’s Claire Xu named match medalist.

Decatur girls golf won their second match of the season 60-25 against Federal Way girls golf on Tuesday.

Alyssa Iverson led the Lady Eagles with nine points and freshman McKenna Hulse added a season-high eight points in only her second career match.

Federal Way’s Grace Ellis (4 points), Katie Astruon (2 points), Hosanna Ellis and Debbie Kong (1 point each) contributed to the team scoring.

Claire Xu from Decatur was the medalist with round of 39.

“I was impressed with positive attitude of the girls and am thrilled with the strong turnout with seven new freshmen joining the program this year,” said FWHS head coach Emily Victor.

The Eagles girls golf team took on Thomas Jefferson Thursday, Sept. 12 and Auburn Mountainview Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Decatur faced Todd Beamer Thursday, Sept. 12 and Auburn Tuesday, Sept. 17.
