Decatur basketball helps during Silver Lake Elementary Field Day event

Decatur boys basketball went back to where it all started Tuesday.

Gators head coach David Choi took 12 members of the program to his alma mater, Silver Lake Elementary School, to take part in the school’s annual field day event.

Players helped elementary students in events such as volleyball and tug of war, and they even competed against fellow teammates in a cup-stacking race. Decatur basketball players also challenged the top fifth-grade class to a game of tug of war, which the Gators lost.

Afterward, Choi thanked his players for their participation and asked them a question: “So, would you guys like to do this again next year?”

Choi was met with a unanimous “absolutely.”

The members of Decatur basketball who participated in the Silver Lake Elementary School Field Day were: Choi; assistant coach Daniel Mailhot; Les Sessoms; Jeylan Spier; Kevin Robello; Floyd Wedderburn Jr.; Isaiah Daughtry; Jose Rodriguez; Jacob Graham; Bradley Graham; Daniel Hylton; Emmanuel Musgrove; Sam Lozano; and Connor Rees.
