The Federal Way Eagles tallied a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to break a tie and beat the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles, 5-4, in a South Puget Sound League South Division contest. The victory kept the Eagles unbeaten in the SPSL South at 4-0 and in a tie for first with Emerald Ridge and Puyallup.
Federal Way jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with three runs in the first and one in the second. But Graham-Kapowsin fought back to tie the game by scoring two runs in the top of the sixth.
Eagle senior Nick Tanielu finished 1 for 3 with an RBI and also threw two innings on the mound to pick up the win. Brett Evans was also 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Federal Way is scheduled to host Puyallup on Tuesday and Emerald Ridge Wednesday.
Beamer 4, Curtis 3
The Titans (3-2 SPSL South, 6-2 overall) scored two runs in the top of the seventh and held on for the victory against Curtis Thursday in University Place.
Junior Matt Bower threw the first 6 1/3 innings and picked up the win for the Titans.
Jeff Apigo finished 2 for 4 with two runs, Richie Apigo was 2 for 3 with a run and Adam Bolf was 2 for 3 with an RBI Thursday. The Beamer offense ended up with 10 hits.
Auburn Mountainview 7, Decatur 0
The Gators (2-4 overall) were one-hit Tuesday by Auburn Mountainview’s Shawn Guinn Tuesday in SPSL 3A Division action. The loss dropped Decatur to 2-1 in league play.
Guinn struck out eight and walked four during his seven innings of work. Zach Jacobs took the loss for the Gators.
