Weyerhaeuser Company’s generous contributions to Federal Way

Since Weyerhaeuser’s corporate headquarters opened in Federal Way in 1971, the company has been an outstanding corporate citizen.

Unfortunate events in recent years have resulted in the move from the architectural gem that has graced our community for over 40 years. Those who envisioned the Federal Way corporate headquarters (location as well as building) are engaged in efforts to preserve all that is possible.

Our Federal Way community has benefitted in many ways by the Weyerhaeuser Company’s presence. Founders and employees have contributed in many ways to community causes. Retired employees continue to generously share their talents, leading and participating in many causes and projects. Our King County Aquatic Center, Pacific Bonsai Museum and Rhododendron Garden, etc., are further evidence of high ideals and engagement.

The eventual decision to relocate did not come easily. The caring Weyerhaeuser community has been saddened by this move. In no way has the company abandoned Federal Way. I have witnessed the company’s generous involvement and outstanding accomplishments — in a work situation and as a citizen of Federal Way, for nearly all of the 47-year presence. Very many agree and hope for the preservation of this beautiful property.
