I-5, SR 18 need more attention

Watching the childish and selfish argument about the proposed exits at South 312th Street and South 324th Street is completely ignoring the true gorilla in the room: Interstate 5 and State Route 18 eastbound.

That nice shiny overpass joining SR 18 to I-5 southbound should not have been the end of the project. Eastbound was and is completely ignored. This needs to change. It’s a total embarrassing failure that gives our city two black eyes and a bloody nose.

There is too much heavy truck traffic trying to get to Interstate 90, too many locals trying to get to Weyerhauser Way and Kitts Corner and too much outbound traffic from Federal Way for this to be ignored – especially when northbound exiting traffic backs up two-plus miles past Wild Waves because of being funneled into one antiquated, slow lane that creeps at two to five mph.

Fix this first. Then fight over the business-oriented exit proposals for the other two streets.
