Vern Snorteland

Vern L. Snorteland died Sept. 12. He was 78.

He was born in Maple Leaf, S.D. on Dec. 6, 1925, and moved to Billings, Mont., in the late 1930s. In 1950, he moved to Seattle, where he married Yvonne Condell on May 1, 1953.

He retired in 1984 after a 30-year career with Pacific Northwest Bell and then AT&T. He then began working in the siding industry. Later, he partnered with his son, Mark, working for S/C Visions until March 2004.

He was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Federal Way for more than 37 years and an avid bowler.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Yvonne; children Mark of Milton, Tony of Auburn and Diana Podoll of Maple Valley; a sister, Caroline Johnson of Langford, S.D.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2415 S. 320th St.
