Woman’s purse snatched while driving away from store | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log March 22-29.

March 22

Motorhome theft: At about 11:01 a.m. near the 33200 block of Pacific Highway South, it was reported that overnight, unknown subjects entered a sales lot and stole a motorhome.

Stolen wheelchair: At about 4:21 p.m. near the 29800 block of Pacific Highway South, an unknown suspect broke into a woman’s storage unit and stole her deceased husband’s power wheelchair.

March 23

Driver arrested: At about 3:17 a.m. near the 2200 block of S. 304th Street, officers conducted a traffic stop. The driver had a valid felony warrant and was taken into custody. The other person in the vehicle told officers there was a gun in the vehicle, and the driver allegedly admitted to owning the gun. He also reportedly told officers he was in violation for possessing the gun. The driver was booked into jail.

Stolen rice: At about 7:57 p.m. near the 35400 block of 21st Avenue SW, an unknown man entered the Hong Kong Market and loaded a grocery cart with four large bags of rice. He then ran out of the store with the rice and loaded it into a vehicle. The man fled the area and was not located.

March 24

Fight in school parking lot: At about 8:55 a.m. near the 4200 block of South 288th Street, four students at a high school were involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of the school on the previous Monday. A female student said she was assaulted unprovoked while waiting other vehicle. Charges were sent to the King County juvenile prosecutor.

Stolen purse: At about 5:10 p.m. near the 34500 block of 16th Avenue South, a woman was leaving the Super Walmart parking lot when an unknown man yanked open her passenger door and grabbed her purse off of the seat. The man then ran toward a waiting vehicle and fled from the parking lot. Limited suspect information.

Neighbor assault: At about 9:27 p.m. near the 900 block of SW Campus Drive, police were dispatched to a reported assault between neighbors. A woman and her boyfriend stated they were assaulted by their neighbor while trying to leave their apartment complex. The neighbor claims he was assaulted by the couple. Both parties are pressing charges for the altercation.

March 25

DUI arrest: At about 12:03 a.m. near the 32000 block of 11th Avenue SW, a suspect was arrested for DUI after being involved in a two-car collision. After the crash, officers found an empty bottle of alcohol inside the suspect’s vehicle.

Man arrested: At about 1:15 p.m. near the 1800 block of SW 317th Place, officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance involving a weapon. The man involved was arrested.

Shoplifter released: At about 7:51 p.m. near the 1200 block of South 320th Street, officers were dispatched to a Safeway grocery store where employees were holding down a shoplifting suspect. The suspect was arrested after stealing food items. The suspect also had heroin on him and was given resources for drug use. The suspect was cited and released.

March 26

DUI driver: At about 1:49 a.m. near the 31200 block of Pacific Highway South, police were dispatched to a head-on collision. The driver of the first vehicle showed signs of impairment and was arrested. The two passengers in the second vehicle sustained facial lacerations and a spinal injury.

March 27

Shots fired: At about 2:21 a.m. near the 29600 block of 18th Avenue South, several people reported hearing gunshots. Upon investigation, Ring surveillance footage showed shots being fired into the air from a speeding vehicle. Seven shell casings were recovered, but there were no reported injuries.

Woman strangled: At about 12:45 p.m. near the 2000 block of SW 318th Place, a woman reported being strangled by her landlord, who is also her girlfriend’s father. The man was arrested for assault and booked into jail.

March 28

Unruly customer: At about 5:40 a.m. near the 31200 block of Pacific Highway South, an unknown customer came into the store to purchase an item, but did not have enough money. The customer left then returned shortly after, throwing money at the employee. The suspect then talked over to the drink machine, but the employee blocked it. The suspect shoved the employee and threw a drink at them. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
