Woman struck in crosswalk sustains serious injuries

A woman involved in a one-car collision suffers serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A woman who was struck by a car in a crosswalk in Federal Way sustained serious injuries on Monday.

Kurt Schwan, commander with the Federal Way Police Department, said the woman was crossing the street at 356th and 16th Street when she was struck by a vehicle while the driver was making a right turn.

The driver stayed with the victim until first responders arrived.

Schwan said there was no criminal intent from the driver, and it appears to have been an unfortunate accident.

Brad Chaney with South King Fire and Rescue said while the woman did sustain serious injuries, she was stable when transported to Harborview Medical Center.
