Wilkeson businesses hosting Bacon & Eggs Fest this weekend

Wilkesonians will host a skating contest and business fest this weekend to raise money toward keeping the new skate park in tip-top shape.

Businesses in town will be serving special “bacon & eggs” meals and merchandise this Saturday and Sunday, proceeds from which will be donated to support the maintenance and expansion of the town’s Bacon & Eggs Skate Park, according to Nomad PNW owner Felisha Ford.

The park was finished in spring last year, designed by local artist John Hillding. The 3,600-square foot skatepark / pop-art installation features two sunny-side up eggs, a 30-foot piece of bacon, and of course the pan itself, which provides a circular rim for skaters to ride and grind.

On Sunday, Aug. 28, skaters are invited to a demo and contest at the skatepark itself, starting at 1 p.m. The skatepark is located on the righthand side of Church Street / SR 165 as you’re coming into town from the south, just past 163rd Court East.
