Shotgun-wielding suspect tries to carjack UPS truck in Federal Way

Federal Way police arrested a suspect Monday in an attempted carjacking of a UPS truck driver.

The incident occurred about 12:13 p.m. Aug. 28 in the 33100 block of Pacific Highway South. After making a delivery, a UPS truck driver was confronted by a suspect who appeared to have a shotgun, according to police.

The suspect demanded the truck, and the driver handed over a keyless remote. However, the suspect couldn’t figure out how to release the truck’s parking brake and ended up fleeing on foot, according to police.

Federal Way police arrested a suspect matching the description about two blocks away. Police report the suspect was in possession of a stolen loaded shotgun and UPS truck remote. The suspect was booked into Score jail and faces a charge of armed robbery.

Federal Way police report that no shots were fired.
