King County Metro Transit has a solution for rising gas prices: Vanpools.
There are currently more than 1,050 vanpools in King County and the number continues to increase. Metro provides the vehicle, rider support services, maintenance, insurance, fuel and tires. Riders provide the driver and pay a monthly fee to participate. Fees are split among group members and are based on round-trip mileage and the number of riders in the van.

Alicia K. Cruz, also known as Alicia K. Armstrong, 26, Federal Way, was sentenced to five years in prison, five years supervised release and ordered to pay $33,117 in restitution for bank fraud, felon in possession of a firearm, and aggravated identity theft. Cruz pleaded guilty to the charges May 19, said Emily Langlie, Public Affairs Officer for the United States Attorney’s Office.
The King County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges of manslaughter in the second-degree June 27 against Alberto Rios in the death of his 7-month-old son June 22.

While Chan Kim proceeds through court trials for the alleged slaying of his girlfriend, Baerbel Roznowski, her grown daughters wonder if police could have done more to protect their mother.
Roznowski, 66, sought an anti-harassment order May 1 against Kim, also known as Paul Kim, her live-in boyfriend. She thought the order was her ticket to escaping her 16-year relationship with Kim in a quick and safe manner. Instead, Roznowski was found slain in her home May 3, hours after Kim was served an anti-harassment order and told by Federal Way police he must immediately leave the residence.
