Man shot, injured at bus stop near Kent Des Moines Road

Early Monday morning, March 28 along Pacific Highway South in Des Moines

A man was shot in both arms by another man after each exited a northbound Metro bus at about 4:44 a.m. Monday, March 28 at a Des Moines bus stop along Pacific Highway South, just north of Kent Des Moines Road.

A confrontation reportedly started on the bus, said Des Moines Police Sgt. Scott Oak in an email. The bus stopped and after both men exited onto a sidewalk, one man shot the other man and then fled on foot northbound on Pacific Highway South.

Officers treated the injured man, who is in his early 50s. Paramedics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A K-9 unit responded and attempted to track the man who had walked away, but he was not located, Oak said.

A third man, in his 50s, suffered a graze wound from a bullet. He was treated and released at the scene.

There were three shootings in four days Nov. 24-27, 2021 at a bus stop in Kent along Pacific Highway South, just south of Kent Des Moines Road. A Federal Way man was fatally shot in one of those shootings. Another Federal Way was charged with first-degree murder.
