Man shot in chest found in Federal Way parking lot

Police are investigating the shooting which occurred near the Redondo Heights Park and Ride around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 20

Police are investigating after a man was shot in his chest Sunday night in Federal Way.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Sept. 20, officers were dispatched to reports of a shooting in the 27600 block of Pacific Highway South, according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of the Federal Way Police Department.

When officers arrived, they located one victim, a man in his 20s, at the Redondo Heights Park and Ride.

The man had a life-threatening gunshot wound to his chest and was transported to Harborview Medical Center by medics.

Preliminary information indicates the victim may have been at the Silver Shadow Apartments south of the Park and Ride lot when the shooting occurred, then fled on foot to the location where he was found by officers, Schwan said.

The shooting is an active incident and police are continuing to investigate with detectives in route to assist as of 9:40 p.m.

There is no suspect information at this time, Schwan said.
