Man arrested for sending woman to hospital in I-5 collision near Federal Way

A Seattle driver is in jail after injuring a woman in a collision near Federal Way on Sunday.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., the Seattle driver, a 25-year-old man, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Interstate 5 near South 375th Street when he hit a Ford Fusion, driven by a 30-year-old man from Lacey.

According to Washington State Patrol, the 25-year-old then struck a second vehicle, a Nissan Xterra. A 41-year-old woman was driving that vehicle and lost control when she was hit and struck a barrier. The Ford and Nissan came to a rest on the roadway and the 25-year-old man drove his vehicle to a Federal Way rest area.

The woman was transported to Tacoma General Hospital with serious injuries.

Washington State Patrol troopers believe drugs or alcohol were involved. The 25-year-old is under investigation for vehicular assault and was booked into King County Correctional Facility in Seattle. He was denied bail.
