Lewd photo shared during school Zoom meeting | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Dec. 16-21.

Dec. 16

Whacked with wooden rolling pin: At about 10:59 a.m. near the 1200 block of S. 336th Street, a victim called 911 to report his ex-wife’s neighbor assaulted him with a wooden rolling pin. The assault occurred when the victim was in the parking lot picking up his children. The victim said he had been hit about four times and was experiencing pain in the head and back. The victim captured the assault on his cell phone and provided evidence to the police. The victim said he will not be pursuing criminal charges and will instead meet with their religious leaders to discuss a resolution.

Impatient customer: At about 6:24 p.m. at The Commons mall, an unknown female suspect punched a Target employee several times in the face and chest area. The suspect was upset the employee was not able to help her right away. The suspect left prior to police arrival and a Safe City post was sent in an attempt to identify the suspect.

Dec. 17

Fire on balcony: At about 3:06 a.m. near the 35700 block of 16th Avenue S., residents claim a neighbor threw a molotov cocktail at an apartment balcony. Upon further questioning, the involved parties declined to cooperate with police or fire investigations. Evidence suggests the minor fire was self-started by occupants of the unit.

Amazon Support fraudster: At about 1:49 p.m. near the 35800 block of 16th Avenue S., a woman reported that someone had acted as Amazon Support to assist her with an alleged fraudulent purchase on her account. The victim said they attempted to pay her with a check, but then requested that she send them the excess money in return. The suspect(s) later requested the victim’s debit and credit card numbers, which she provided to them. All communication with the suspect(s) was via email and text message with a partial phone number. At the time of the report, the victim had not had any funds fraudulently withdrawn yet. Police advised her to cancel her cards and cease all communication with the suspect(s).

Lewd photo in school Zoom: At about 2:45 p.m. near the 2500 block of SW 323rd Street, officers responded to a report of lewd conduct on a school Zoom meeting. The reporting party said a lewd photo was shown by an unknown source during a Zoom meeting. Federal Way Public Schools IT and Federal Way police are working together to investigate how and what occurred.

Christmas items, toys stolen: At about 7:24 p.m. near the 34008 block of Hoyt Road S., an employee at the Walgreens reported a woman left the store with a shopping cart full of Christmas items and toys without paying. The woman loaded the items into a vehicle and fled. The employee provided a license plate number of the vehicle, but no record was available on the plate number, indicating the number was not correct. It is unknown exactly what items were stolen or the exact total.

Dec. 18

Library window shot: At about 9:57 a.m. near the 848 block of S. 320th Street, an employee at the Federal Way library reported a broken window. The damage of the window is consistent with what a bullet would do to glass, and appears it came from outside the building. No other damage inside the library was located. No bullet or other object was found inside. The employee said repairs of the window would cost about $2,100.

Dec. 19

Intoxicated driver: At about 7:17 a.m. near the 2198 block of SW Dash Point Road, a driver was traveling approximately 75 mph in a 35 mph zone on 21st Avenue SW. The driver was unable to maintain control of his lane and was braking abruptly with no traffic around. The driver was stopped and was instigated for Driving Under the Influence. The driver was arrested for DUI and booked into Puyallup Jail.

Pharmacy robbed: At about 4:18 p.m. near the 2000 block of SW 336th Street, officers responded to the listed location and learned three men had jumped the pharmacy counter and taken items.

Dec. 21

Vacant house catches fire: At about 2:17 a.m. near the 1816 block of S. 333rd Street, officers responded to a residential fire at a vacant house. South King Fire and Rescue crews arrived and put out the house fire. Nobody was present when fire or police arrived. The house is owned by an investment company and has been vacant for quite some time.

Firearm flashed: At about 3:51 p.m. near the 28800 block of Pacific Highway S., police responded to a call regarding a display of a firearm. The suspect was unable to be identified and without further leads, the case remains inactive.
