Lake Tapps woman killed after road conditions cause SUV to strike tree in Federal Way

The woman lost control of her vehicle, which went down an embankment, struck a tree and came to rest in a ditch.

A 24-year-old Lake Tapps woman was killed after road conditions caused her to lose control of her SUV and strike a tree on Monday night in Federal Way.

The victim has been identified by medical examiners as Jessica T. Quinn-Whitney. Her cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and her death was ruled as an accident.

According to Washington State Patrol, the woman was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 at 272nd Street when she lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway, went down an embankment and struck a tree at 10:15 p.m. Her SUV came to a rest in the ditch off the right side of the roadway.

The woman was wearing her seatbelt, noted WSP.
