King County Sheriff’s Office seizes nearly $10 million of illegal marijuana

Search warrants served in Federal Way, Kent, Auburn, Renton and other cities.

King County Sheriff’s Office detectives seized nearly $10 million of illegal marijuana when it served search warrants on 18 residences and two storage units last week in King and Pierce counties.

A total of 7,634 marijuana plants valued at about $7.6 million and 783 pounds of processed marijuana valued at about $2.3 million were recovered, according to a news release Wednesday from the sheriff’s office.

The searches were done over two days last week at locations in unincorporated King County, Kent, Renton, Auburn, Federal Way, Pacific, Lakewood and Seattle.

Detectives arrested 10 people for investigation of drug-related charges. Detectives seized 10 homes, four vehicles, a 32-foot RV and more than $200,000 in cash all related to illegal marijuana grows and sales. Ten adults were booked into King County Jail for drug related charges.

All of the search warrants served in this operation were at illegal grow locations. The marijuana itself is suspected of being destined for the East Coast.
