Salmon Bake set for July 25
The food is always good, but it’s the people that really draw crowds to the Federal Way Kiwanis Club’s annual Salmon Bake.
The Federal Way Kiwanis annual Salmon Bake will run 4 to 8 p.m. July 25 at Steel Lake Park, 2410 S. 312th St. The annual event includes plenty of salmon, desserts, local vendors and live music.
All the proceeds from the dinner will benefit local charities for children. Some of the Kiwanis biggest contributions are to several college scholarships for Federal Way students, as well as diapers and formula for the Multi-Service Center.

FUSION festival set for Aug. 6
Come be razzle-dazzled at “A Gatsby Soiree” from 3 to 9 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Dumas Bay Centre in Federal Way. The evening presents culinary delights from Metropolitan Market, an Art Walk featuring 40 local artists, and a silent and live auction. Free seminar about incontinence
St. Francis Hospital will host a seminar for people suffering from incontinence and other pelvic disorders from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 23 at the St. Francis Medical Office Building next to St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way.
The seminar will be led by urogynecologist William Andre Silva and pelvic floor physical therapist Kris Costello. They will discuss the latest treatment options for bladder and bowel incontinence, collapsing pelvic organs and other disorders. A range of therapy options will be discussed from lifestyle modification and medication to surgery.

Federal Way Chorale receives grant
The Seattle Foundation recently awarded a grant of $3,000 to the Federal Way Chorale.
The Seattle Foundation manages many competitive grant programs and considers proposals from nonprofit organizations serving King County residents and beyond. Through this support, music and arts organizations such as the Federal Way Chorale continue to improve the quality of life for King County residents. The chorale will use the grant to purchase riser backs and sides, a protective rail along the top row and the sides of the risers used during performances. According to the award letter, “this grant is paid from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Fund, created by a gift to The Seattle Foundation.”

Chili cook-off helps Toys for Tots
The Federal Way Farmers Market will host a chili cook-off from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at The Commons mall parking lot. Federal Way police and firefighters will face off in a battle to make the best chili. Tickets are $10 and include chili, corn bread, a drink and cookie. All proceeds benefit Toys for Tots.
