Federal Way celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. with a special event on Monday at the Performing Arts and Event Center.

Attendees enjoyed live performances, speakers and more. The event was presented by the Diversity Commission in partnership with Decatur High School Leadership, Honor Society and WEAct and the Federal Way Public Schools.

In addition, Federal Way City Council members and Mayor Jim Ferrell also joined the city’s Diversity Commission members, youth and local service providers for a day of giving to celebrate MLK Jr. on Saturday.

Volunteers held a food drive at four locations in Federal Way, including Safeway, Fred Meyer, the Grocery Outlet and Walmart.
