Federal Way graduates allowed 4 guests each at ceremonies

With graduation ceremonies just a few weeks away, Federal Way Public Schools is working to create a memorable event for students and their families.

Graduation ceremonies will be held at Federal Way Memorial Stadium (1300 S. 308th Street) and each graduate will be allocated a maximum of four in-person tickets for family or friends to attend the ceremony.

Each graduate will be given two parking passes, which are required for entry into the stadium’s parking lots. Ceremonies will also be live-streamed to allow loved ones not in attendance to still enjoy the academic milestone.

To meet health and safety guidelines, graduations will be divided by alphabetically by students’ last names in 40 minute periods.

For example, students’ with last names beginning with A-B for Federal Way High School will part take in their graduation ceremony from 1:30-2:10 p.m. Thursday, June 10.

While nearby schools may allow more guests and larger audiences for their in-person ceremonies, such as Mount Tahoma allowing six guests per graduate, Federal Way Memorial Stadium has a smaller capacity than other stadiums in the region where outdoor graduations are being held for the class of 2021.

In recent weeks, fresh paint and new fencing has been installed at the Federal Way stadium in preparation for upcoming graduations.

Graduation schedules:

  • Federal Way High School: Thursday, June 10, 2021: Pre-recorded video will air at 12 p.m. In-person graduation scheduled between 1:30 – 6:50 p.m.
  • Thomas Jefferson High School: Friday, June 11, 2021: Pre-recorded video will air at 12 p.m. In-person graduation scheduled between 1:30-6:50 p.m.
  • Todd Beamer High School: Saturday, June 12, 2021: Pre-recorded video will air at 7 a.m. In-person graduation scheduled between 8:30 a.m. – 1:10 p.m.
  • Decatur High School: Saturday, June 12, 2021: Pre-recorded video will air at 12:20 p.m. In-person graduation scheduled between 1:50 – 5:50 p.m.
  • TAF@Saghalie • Sunday, June 13, 2021: Pre-recorded video will air at 8 a.m. In-person graduation scheduled between 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • Truman Campus: Sunday, June 13, 2021: Pre-recorded video will air at 9:10 a.m. Federal Way Open Doors in-person graduation scheduled between: 10:40 – noon. Internet Academy in-person graduation scheduled between: 12:35 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Career Academy at Truman in-person graduation scheduled between: 1:15 – 1:55 p.m.
  • Employment Transition Program: Sunday, June 13, 2021 Pre-recorded video will air at 1:30 p.m. In-person graduation scheduled between: 2:25 – 3:05 p.m.

School car parades for the class of 2021 are to be hosted by each high school in early June. Seniors are encouraged to decorate their vehicle to drive through an on-campus route.

Car parades are set for Federal Way High School Tuesday, June 8; TAF@Saghalie, Thomas Jefferson, Todd Beamer High School and Truman Campus Wednesday, June 9; Decatur High School Friday, June 10; and Wednesday, June 16 for the Employment and Transition Program.
