DUI driver causes 4-car collision | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Dec. 20-28.

Dec. 20

Burglary at pizza shop: At about 3:30 a.m. near the 32900 block of 1st Avenue South, Federal Way officers responded to the Pizza Pizzazz location for an in-progress burglary.

Storage unit burglaries: At about 7:58 a.m. near the 34700 block of Pacific Highway South, several storage unit owners reported their units being burglarized sometime overnight. The responding officer found seven units had been broken into and one unit was damaged from the suspect(s) attempting to gain entry. No video footage or suspect information available.

Dec. 21

Man assaulted by roommate: At about 5:13 a.m. near the 1800 block of South 330th Street, officers responded to reports of a man being assaulted. The man said his roommate approached him and was trying to kill him. The roommate was arrested and booked into jail on fourth-degree assault and domestic violence charges.

Bank robbery: At about 1:24 p.m. near the 1400 block of South 312th Street, a bank reported they were just robbed. The suspect displayed a note and implied they had a gun, though a gun was not seen. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

Apartment burglarized: At about 4:56 p.m. near the 27900 block of Pacific Highway South, police responded to an apartment complex where a unit had been burglarized. The suspect was confronted and a struggle broke out. Police arrested the suspect.

Dec. 23

Man hit by vehicle: At about 7:18 a.m. near the 31200 block of Pacific Highway South, a man was possibly struck by a vehicle and shot near H Mart.

SHAG neighbor points gun: At about 10:29 a.m. near the 1300 block of SW 328th Court, a woman reported that she was driving back home to her SHAG apartment when she saw her upstairs neighbor standing outside the building, point a camouflage-colored long gun at her. She went inside and immediately called the police.

Man trespasses at Wild Waves: At about 1:50 p.m. near the 36200 block of Enchanted Parkway South, a man climbed the fence of Wild Waves Theme & Water Park, gaining access to a closed and secure park. A security officer for the park saw the man inside carrying a large red metal crowbar. The man was apprehended as he attempted to climb the fence and flee the park. The man was booked into SCORE jail on a felony warrant and cited for trespassing.

Dec. 24

Car stolen: At about 7:15 a.m. near the 33200 block of Military Road South, a man was given a vehicle from his father-in-law and parked the vehicle in front of their apartment the night before. His wife went to get last minute items for Christmas and noticed the car was stolen. No video footage or suspect information available.

Road rage: At about 12:16 p.m. near the 800 block of South 312th Street, a suspect pointed a firearm at another driver during a road rage incident. The suspect returned to the scene and was taken into custody without incident.

Jewelry stolen: At about 2:47 p.m. near the 1928 block of South Commons, an unknown man used a hammer to smash a glass display case and stole an unknown amount of jewelry. The owner of the store refused to prosecute at this time.

DUI driver causes collision: At about 5:03 p.m. near the 32300 block of SW 320th Street, a driver responsible for causing a four-car collision was arrested and booked for DUI. Drivers of the other vehicles reported injuries as a result of the collision.

Dec. 25

Boyfriend assaults girlfriend: At about 9:54 p.m. near the 1300 block of SW Campus Drive, a woman was followed into her apartment by her boyfriend. He then forced entry by breaking a sliding glass door. Once inside, he assaulted and strangled her. He also broke multiple items of her property. The boyfriend fled the scene, but was located by police and taken into custody.

Dec. 26:

Person struck, injured by SUV driver: At about 11:18 a.m. near the intersection of 30th Avenue South and South 288th Street, a pedestrian was struck and run over by an unknown SUV. The driver fled the scene after hitting the person. The pedestrian sustained rib and pelvic fractures and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The SUV and the driver have not been located.

Dec. 27

Armed robbery: At about 1:02 a.m. near the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to reports of a shoplift and found two men matching the suspect descriptions. One of the men was in possession of a firearm, but was not permitted to have a gun because he is a convicted felon. The man with the gun was booked into jail and the other suspect was issued a citation.

Dec. 28

Trampoline trouble: At about 1:47 p.m. near the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, the owner of a trampoline business reported a woman visited the business in September, lied to the employees and said she was part of a private party. She then used the facility for free (a value of $15) and got hurt in the process. The woman is now taking legal action against the business.
