2 FWPS educators earn National Board Certification

Certification advances the quality of teaching and learning by maintaining high and rigorous standards, district says.

Two Federal Way educators were recently honored in the district’s 2020 cohort of National Board Certified Teachers at a Jan. 26 Federal Way Public Schools board meeting.

National Board Certification is considered the “gold standard” in teacher certification. The certification advances the quality of teaching and learning by maintaining high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do, according to the district.

Recipients of the certification include

• Cally Lindenmier, Enterprise Elementary, Early and Middle Childhood: Music

• Cinda Rousseau, Wildwood Elementary, Early and Middle Childhood: Literacy Reading – Language Arts

“Board-certified teachers are an asset to their school communities as they take on instructional leadership roles and support other teachers,” the district wrote in a release. “Most importantly, students in the classrooms with a board-certified teacher have accelerated growth and higher levels of academic proficiency. “
