Buildings at Camp Kilworth vandalized | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Dec. 8-15.

Dec. 8

Stabbing threats: At about 3:54 p.m. near the 2200 block of S. Star Lake Road, a victim called 911 to report a male threatening to stab her. Upon arrival, probable cause was established for felony harassment. The suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail.

Dec. 9

Leaf blower owner shoots thief: At about 8:57 a.m. near the 2500 block of S. 317th Street, a female was shot while fleeing in a vehicle after stealing a leaf blower with a male accomplice. The woman was shot by the owner of the leaf blower.

Pain in the arm: At about 9:54 p.m. near the 1100 block of S. 324th Street, a subject told police he was in a wooded area west of 11th Ave. S. when he felt pain in his arm. The subject noticed he had been shot. The subject was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he became uncooperative with further investigation. No evidence of a shooting was located at the described area and Safe City cameras did not capture any evidence.

Illegal tree cutting: At about 11:47 p.m. near SW Dash Point Road and 28th Ave. SW, neighbors reported to police about an illegal tree cutting in an open space owned by the City of Federal Way. At three different times in early December, the neighbors witnessed and heard reports of illegal tree cutting. The space contains several alder and maple trees. The reporting neighbors suspect the tree cutting may be done by other nearby neighbors in hopes of improving their view of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains.

Dec. 11

False alarm: At about 10:36 a.m. near the 32600 block of 7th Place S., a neighbor reported forcing entry into a nearby home where she said the homeowners were out of town and nobody should be at the home. The neighbor reported seeing two men using a screwdriver to enter the home, and a white truck was parked out front of the residence. Multiple officers arrived on scene and captured one of the men on the front porch. The second man exited the house and was also detained. The two men said they were the nephew and brother of the homeowners and said they had permission to be there. Police determined that the two men did, in fact, have permission to be at the home. The men were released.

Dec. 12

Man robbed, stabbed: At about 2:15 a.m. near the 2000 block of SW 336th Street, an unknown suspect attempted to rob a man while the man was walking home from an ATM. The man fought back and was stabbed by an unknown weapon in the arm. The man walked home and got a ride to St. Francis Hospital.

Nude photos: At about 12:12 p.m. near the 30300 block of 13th Ave. S., a parent called to report his underage son had received nude photos via his Instagram direct messenger.

Bank robbed: At about 12:31 p.m. near the 3000 block of Pacific Highway S., a suspect attempted to rob a bank and handed a note to a bank teller. No weapon was seen, but it was implied the suspect had a weapon. The suspect left with a large amount of cash and was not located by police.

Dec. 13

Bath salts and butcher knife: At about 3:09 p.m. near the 29200 block of Military Road S., officers responded to the Homestead Apartments for a report of a man breaking windows in his third-story apartment. Officers arrived on scene as the man was yelling obscenities at officers while holding a large butcher knife in his right hand. The man continued to scream at officers and throw small items from the balcony and stairwell. Officers confirmed that he was alone. A negotiator attempted to talk with the man, who refused and continued to yell obscenities from the third floor. After unsuccessful communication with the man, officers left the scene. Later, it was discovered the man had been using bath salts.

Dec. 15

Camp Kilworth vandalized: At about 10:15 a.m. near the 30900 block of 50th Avenue SW, unknown suspects forced entry into two of the uninhabitable buildings at Camp Kilworth. The suspects made entry to the main house closest to the property entrance via the front glass window. Forced entry was also observed to the historic building at the waterfront. Damage is estimated to be more than $5,500. The suspects, believed to be juveniles, spray painted gang graffiti on the walls. Other buildings on the former Boy Scouts of America recreation site checked secure. Patrols of this area will continue.
