29-year-old Federal Way man injured in Des Moines shooting

This is Des Moines’ first shooting of 2020, police confirm.

A 29-year-old Federal Way man was shot in Des Moines this morning.

The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. at the Waterview Crossing Apartments, at the 21800 block of Pacific Highway S. in Des Moines.

The victim was in the parking lot of the apartments, apparently visiting his sister who resides at the complex, said Sgt. Dave Mohr with the Des Moines Police Department.

Witnesses reported hearing a dispute in the parking lot followed by a single gunshot, Mohr told the Mirror. The dispute continued and a second gunshot rang out.

The victim was found in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Harborview Medical Center, Mohr confirmed.

At this time, there is no update on the Federal Way man’s condition.

Des Moines detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the complex and surrounding areas, Mohr said.

Des Moines police urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the police department at 206-878-3301.
