2010 Census data: Federal Way’s population grows

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released 2010 Census data pertaining to Washington state. Here’s some highlights from Washington and Federal Way.

• Washington’s population is 6,724,540.

• The cities of Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver, Bellevue, Everett, Kent, Yakima, Renton and Spokane Valley are (in order) Washington’s 10 most populated cities. The 2000 Census ranked Federal Way the eighth most populous city in the state.

• King County’s population rose to 1,931,249.

• Federal Way’s population grew from 83,259 in the year 2000 to 89,306.

• The city’s white population is 51,346.

• The Hispanic or Latino population registers at 14,476.

• Federal Way’s Asian population sits at 12,642.

• The city’s black population is 8,703

• 5,928 people identified themselves as two or more races.

• 704 people identified themselves as three or more races.
