World Championship of Sand Sculpting competition will take place Sept. 8 to Oct. 3 in downtown Federal Way.

Sand sculptor Charlie Beaulieu, of Kingston, shoveled and packed sand before sculpting it into “Retro Man” on Aug. 14 at the Federal Way Farmers Market. Beaulieu is co-coordinating the upcoming World Championship of Sand Sculpting competition, which will take place Sept. 8 to Oct. 3 at the former Toys R’ Us parking lot, 31510 20th Ave. S. Sculptors from across the world will compete on-site. Onlookers will be charged $8.50 per adult and $6.50 per senior citizen to watch the artists work. The sculptures will be displayed for four weeks.
