Monday will be a day for folks to relax and do a good deed for charity at the same time. Massage Envy will host a Massage for the Cure fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 6 at their Federal Way location in the Crossings shopping center, at South 348th Street and Pacific Highway South.

All massages during the event will be free with a donation to the Puget Sound Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliate. A donation of $60, the typical price of an hour-long massage, is suggested. All donations go directly to the charity.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for breast cancer research and prevention efforts.

The Massage for the Cure fundraiser began three years ago at a Massage Envy location in Phoenix. Since then, events nationwide have raised a total of $405,000.

Organizers recommend making an appointment for the massage, although walk-ins may be accepted if space is available. Appointments can be booked by calling (877) 777-ENVY.

Massage Envy offers trigger point, Swedish, deep tissue, sports, reflexology and cranial sacral massages. According to the company’s Web site, massage relieves stress, encourages relaxation, helps manage pain, improves flexibility and range of motion, relaxes muscles and lowers blood pressure.
